For a lot of jobs, being sedentary for hours on end is a standard occupational hazard, and for most peopleit’s hard to stay motivated to hit the gym.

According to Harvard Health Publications, too much sitting has been linked to everything from osteoporosis to heart disease to diabetes. So if you feel like you’re wasting away in your chair all day, and you don’t want to become the next victim of theso called “sitting disease“,then youmight want to consider using your spare time to getmoving and earn some extra cash at the same.

If you’re going to go through all the trouble to work out, you might as well make some money while you’re at it!


Here are a few ways you can burn calories and earn some extra bucks at the same time:

1. Delivering Leaflets

Businesses are often looking for people to do leaflet deliveries for them and they often offer to pay based on a number of leaflets that you can deliver. So basically the faster you go, the fitter you get and the more you get paid! It’s a win, win.

There are all kinds of businesses that may want you to deliver leaflets for them but a quick win could be to approach local takeaways and see if they need anything delivered.


2. Deliveroo

Deliveroo is a food delivery service that delivers orders by car, scooter and push bike! So if you love cycling and keeping fit why not get paid for it too. Their website boasts that you can get paid up to £16 per hour for cycling.

As you would be self-employed working with Deliveroo you also get to choose your hours to fit in with your routine.


3. Gardening

If you have a bit of a green finger and like to watch your figure then gardening could be a great way to increase your level of fitness while also getting paid.

Gardening can burn between 400-600 calories in an hour and there’s plenty of work out there if you look in the right places. Do leaflet drops in affluent areas advertising services such as grass cutting, weeding and hedge trimming. The great thing about offering services like this is that you tend to get a lot of repeat business as the grass just keeps growing.


4. Dog Walking

If you’re an animal lover and a fitness fanatic then dog walking could be a great way for you to get fit and get paid. Dog Walkers charged upwards of £10 per hour per dog, if you walk multiple dogs then that could turn into great a way to earn money or supplement your income.

All you need is a pair of PUMA (other brands of shoe should work too) and apuppa scoopa then you’re good to go.


5. Tour Guide

If you have excellent knowledge of a local tourist attraction then becoming a Tour Guide could be a great way to supplement your income while keeping fit.

Perhaps you could take people on hill walking or mountain bike tours. What a great way to keep fit, enjoy the great outdoors while also earning some extra cash.


6. Become a Fitness Blogger

Do you enjoy keeping fit and have a knack for writing or creating videos? Well becoming a fitness blogger could be a great way for you to earn some extra cash while keeping fit. Fitness bloggers make money by advertising on their blog and sometimes even receive freebies from businesses looking for reviews of their products.

You can start your own blog for free at WordPress.com and then monetise it using something like Amazon Associates. Also, if you don’t have a blog but a have alarge social following on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram there is a chance that you could start approaching businesses right away that may pay you to review their products. How cool is that? If you own or usefitness equipment then a great place to start would be to review the products that you’ve bought.


7. Rickshaw

Want to earn some money while travelling, but can’t stand the thought of fruit picking or labouring. Well, becoming a rickshaw driver could be the answer you’ve been looking for.

How much money you have in your pocket at the end of the day depends on how hard you push yourself and how fast you get from A to B. As your bank balance increases, your waistline will decrease.

Plus, you’ll have the benefit of meeting new people and sightseeing while you ride.


8. Personal Trainer

Work one-on-one with clients to help them carve the chiselled physique they’re after. Working as a personal trainer involves being able to demonstrate exercises, and sometimes you can do them right alongside your client.

Personal trainers earn on average £40-£50 per hour. However, in some areas this can be even higher. For example, personal trainers in London can earn up to £100 per hour.

Another perk of personal training is that many of these gigs come with gym memberships.


9. Fitness Class Instructor

Believe it or not, some people pay good money to be screamed at. If you’re very fitness-savvy then why not transform your favourite hobby into a side income? Consider going into business as a fitness boot camp instructor or a fitness class instructor to get paid to help people get in shape. To make sure you break a sweat, do the workouts with your clients.

If you’re a yoga fanatic, consider becoming a yoga class teacher. You’ll need to demonstrate every pose and offer guidance and variations so students can develop their practice. Many instructors can also attend other instructors’ classes for free, which is a great added bonus.


10. Farm Work

Working on a farm is hard work and people have developed workouts to help achieve farm boy strength but what better way to do it than actually working on a farm, that way you get fit and also get paid at the same time!

According to Men’s Health,farmers are the fittest workers in the UKso expect to develop all-around strength by working on a farm while also getting an incredible cardio workout.

Farm Assistants can earn anywhere between £8 and £10 per hour.
